Domains and Website Hosting

  1. We have our own domain name registered. How do we get our website working?
    Once your site is completed, we will walk you through the process of pointing your domain to our web server. It typically takes 1-10 hours for your site to go live once you point the domain. If you feel comfortable with doing it yourself, you can point the domain name to our server fairly easily.

    1. Log in to the website where you registered your domain name.
    2. Find the area where it has Domain Settings.
    3. Look for an area called Nameservers.
    4. Change the default Nameservers to
      NS1.CLEARSITEINTERNET.COM
      NS2.CLEARSITEINTERNET.COM
  2. Are there any additional fees to consider when buying a website?
    We charge a hosting fee for our websites which you can pay annually or monthly. There is also an annual fee for keeping your domain name (www.yoursite.com) registered (see below).
  3. We don’t have a domain name registered. Can you help us get one?
    Yes, we can. If you would like to to register your own, you can do it at a website like godaddy.com or register.com. It’s a relatively painless process.

E-mail

  1. How many e-mail addresses do we get?
    With most websites, we offer an unlimited amount of e-mail accounts. There are some exceptions on very small sites where e-mail is an additional cost, but that is uncommon.
  2. Can we access our e-mail online?
    Yes, once your site is online, go to www.yoursite.com/webmail and you can access your mail after entering your user name (youremailaccount@yourwebsite.com) and password.
  3. What do I do if I lose my password? We do not have access to your e-mail passwords once your account has been set up. If you forget your password, call us and we will reset it for you.
  4. How do I add more e-mail accounts?
    Call or e-mail us, and we will add any e-mail accounts you need. If you e-mail us, send us the username and the password you want attached to the account.

    • User: yourname@yoursite.com
    • Password: your password (case sensitive).
    • If you’re having trouble thinking of a password, PC Tools has an easy-to-use password generator that creates high-security passwords. Be sure to write down and save your password!
  5. How do we set up our Outlook to receive mail?
    Once we set up you e-mail accounts, we will send you instructions on how to configure your Outlook to send and receive e-mail.
  6. We host our e-mail through another provider or VPS, can we keep our existing e-mail host?
    Yes, you can. Before we point your domain to our servers, we will have to be in contact with your server or e-mail administrator so we can properly configure the e-mail records to continue using your existing host.
